Geniel Smith, MHC-LP

Geniel Smith, MHC-LP received a Bachelors in psychology from City University of New York and a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Mercy College. Geniel also possesses certification as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC-T). Ms. Smith is experienced in treating Adjustment disorders, Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, PTSD and working with those who struggle with Substance abuse. Geniel has a passion for helping people identify their goals and stressors, while rediscovering their strengths. She has worked in a variety of settings including; Adolescent and Adult Outpatient Treatment, in Home Counseling, and in Preventive Services for children and families. Her specialty is empowering clients with the tools needed to combat their stressors and better manage their symptoms. Ms. Smith utilizes an eclectic and Holistic approach that is designed to meet each client’s individual needs. She primarily draws from Adlerian Psychology, Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). These and more evidence based interventions are used to enable clients to achieve their goals, while addressing maladaptive thoughts and behaviors that impeded achievement of those goals.
