Narrative

My approach to care:

Educational background: Leah Klein holds a Masters degree in Social Work with a specialization in clinical social work from the Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/Psychology from Hofstra University. Leah is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of New York.

Clinical experience: Leah is a 20 plus year veteran of the Clinical Social Work field. She has experience working in varied clinical settings including outpatient community mental health, private practice, a residential school, medical settings, and virtual psychotherapy and supervision. Within these settings, Leah has had experience working with individuals and families with varying diagnoses and presentations.

Areas of expertise: Leah specializes in supportive psychotherapy with the adult (18 -60)population. Specific areas of interest and expertise include, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, women’s health (specifically Perinatal and Postpartum Depression), Life Transitions and Improving interpersonal relationships. While these areas are of specific interest, Leah is comfortable and confident working with majority of diagnoses. Additionally Leah is passionate about Clinical Supervision and in working to help train the “next generation” of clinicians.

Approach (if applicable): Leah’s clinical approach is strengths based and collaborative. She believes that when people come to therapy they frequently can’t see there own strengths and or value. Leah prioritizes pointing out patients positive traits to help them better utilize the resources that they already have. Additionally, Leah encourages patients to conceptualize therapy as a collaborative experience where patient and therapist work together to meet patient goals.

Personal: Leah believes that, “Therapy does not have to be all “gloom and doom”. There is room for levity and
even laughter in the process. There is room in therapy to laugh, cry and everything in between.
