Colorado

Chief People Operations Officer (Denver, CO)

As Chief People Operations Officer, you will lead all talent operations for our mission-driven, growth-focused outpatient behavioral health practice. You will report to the Chief Executive Officer.

At Sol Mental Health (“SOL”), we tie business and people operations together to magnify collaboration and impact; this is because SOL’s team – enabled by thoughtful protocols, learning experiences, optimized HR support, and an empowering and inclusive culture – drives our success.

This is a high-visibility role and will be bolstered by a deep organizational commitment to building an industry-leading people-focused organization and engaging culture. You will lead key talent functions including talent acquisition, total rewards, diversity & inclusion, talent analytics, performance management, employee relations, and HR field operations. You will also be a key leader in our internal communication strategy.

You must be a nuanced, intentional, and inspiring leader, a focused operator, and a creative and strategic thinker who plans pragmatically, communicates effectively, collaborates skillfully, and executes with urgency. You will collaborate closely and expertly with corporate and field-based leaders to ensure cohesive, encompassing people strategies that drive our business forward.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, drive, and execute a long-term strategic talent roadmap that is informed by data and evolves based on company priorities. Determine and monitor metrics and KPIs to evaluate performance of initiatives, programs, and outcomes and adjust where necessary.
  • Serve in a high impact organizational leadership role; act as a bridge builder and thought leader who takes concerted action to inspire, align, engage, and empower our workforce.
  • Expertly refine and lead the following domains: talent acquisition, total rewards, diversity & inclusion, talent analytics, performance management, employee relations / HR compliance, and HR field operations / business partnerships.
  • Build a superior talent acquisition strategy and operation – for clinical, corporate, and field-based roles – that yields best-in-industry recruitment results with a significant emphasis on attracting mental health clinicians. Bring an understanding of market demands, seasonal impact, compensation trends, etc., to ensure that SOL is optimally staffed to deliver.
  • Develop and oversee the identification, optimization, and improvement of HR systems (HRIS, ATS, Analytics tools, PEO, LMS, etc.) to ensure that teammates have reliable, user-friendly access to the systems and tools required to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Develop and oversee a performance management framework for the organization with the goal of understanding high impact performers, opportunities for improvement, and risk factors in the organization. Create and rollout retention strategies, career development opportunities, and other employee engagement programs as needed.
  • Lead SOL’s approach to workforce planning efforts with respect to new markets, managing the workforce with de novo builds, and market-level partnerships; this includes collaborating with key stakeholders on budgets, workforce planning, total rewards, change management, and communications strategies, and with teammates and leaders on onboarding and integration.
  • Drive organizational needs assessments and build strategies that align to high impact investment areas; these could include, but are not limited to, learning and development programs, etc.
  • Develop a process to routinely conduct employee engagement surveys and lead SOL in acting in response to those results. This process includes survey review and action item establishment, as well as other engagement and recognition programs.
  • Establish relationships with internal and external counsel, finance, and other leaders to oversee a compliant Human Resources function; this means ensuring that appropriate training, systems, controls, documentation, and programs are in place related to labor laws, local, state, and federal employment regulations, employee relations, employment disciplinary plans, onboarding, background checks, payroll, tax, employee training, education, employment verification, etc.
  • Manage the philosophy and tactics of our total rewards program to engender a performance-based compensation culture. Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team (“ELT”) on the management of the compensation program to align with SOL’s compensation philosophy, state regulatory requirements, compensation data, and performance goals. Benchmark and make decisions about benefits and perks according to company funding levels and desired outcomes to ensure that SOL can attract and retain the requisite workforce.
  • Attract and recruit top HR and recruiting talent, motivate the team, delegate effectively, celebrate diversity, and manage performance; widely viewed as a strong developer of others with a continuous focus on matching top performers to roles where they can add the most value.

Key Attributes:

  • Committed to building a best-in-class people function, always keeping an eye toward our future as a high-performing, scaled organization while also operating within current constraints.
  • Demonstrates the intellectual curiosity, creativity, and hustle required to innovate as SOL grows. Ability and willingness to be both a granular and high-level problem-solver, as required.
  • Possesses superior management, communication and leadership skills; intentional culture carrier who models the way, inspiring trust and credibility across the organization.
  • Prepared to participate, as part of the ELT, in business decisions in which talent strategy can be the difference between success and failure.
  • Collaborative, highly driven subject-matter expert, capable of delivering results that support the organization’s commitment to recruit, develop, engage, and retain clinicians and teammates.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty; ability to adapt nimbly and lead others through complex situations.
  • Leads with integrity by example; drives the organization's performance with an attitude of continuous improvement by being open to feedback and self-improvement.
