My approach to care:

Saskia Inwood is a licensed certified social worker (LCSW-C), specializing in the field of mental health, in Maryland. Her core values when working with clients include empathy, support, motivation, guidance, and education. With over 25 years of experience, she has worked with clients of all ages, including children, adolescents, and adults. Ms. Inwood utilizes many therapeutic approaches, especially cognitive behavioral techniques, which helps clients learn skills to manage the stressors in their own lives and to reach their potential. Saskia is also experienced in providing play therapy to children who are not yet at the age to fully benefit from talk therapy alone.

When meeting with Saskia, clients can expect to process and work through past conflict and trauma, to allow clients the emotional freedom to heal and grow. Ms. Inwood has a particular interest in different approaches to treat clients with a history of trauma. She meets clients where they are and offers a non-judgmental, supportive environment. Ms. Inwood thrives in helping clients who feel stuck, depressed, anxious, and even hopeless, to feel more confident and hopeful, and to be able to independently work through conflict and stress in their everyday lives. Clients with difficulties in relationships can expect to learn skills such as assertiveness and setting boundaries, as we all need to practice self-love and self-care first and foremost.

Saskia graduated from the University of Maryland’s School of Social Work in 2002. She worked for Montgomery County Child Welfare Services in Maryland from 2002 until 2019, where she worked to ensure the safety, risk, and well-being of children and families. In 2019, she transitioned to clinical work and began providing individual therapy to clients of all ages in person and remotely. She also dabbled in couples and family therapy and has an interest in expanding her experience in this. Ms. Inwood has experience working with a variety of clients, including those with depressive and anxiety disorders, ADHD, personality disorders, and survivors of trauma (including childhood abuse and neglect). She works collaboratively with clients to set treatment goals and to assess achievement of these goals.
