My approach to care:

Alysia Aponte is a Licensed Master Social Worker whose core values of compassion and empathy shape her approach to support clients. With over 3 years of experience, she specializes in working with adolescents, young adults, and older adults in providing therapy for substance use and mental health issues. Alysia has experience working with mental health issues including anxiety, depression, and personality disorders. Her therapeutic style is a humanistic and strengths based approach to create a safe, individualized path to healing. Alysia is passionate about creating a supportive, warm, and nonjudgmental environment while empowering her clients through meaningful change. She strongly believes in the resilience and potential of each person she works with.

When working together, clients can expect a welcoming, collaborative, and value-aligned experience. Her approach is client centered, where she focuses on promoting client autonomy and providing them with the personalized care that they need. Alysia guides her clients in working to manage and overcome anxiety, self-doubt, and the hopelessness they may experience due to life stressors like past trauma, loss, or major life transitions. She views therapy as a shared journey, where she and her clients work together therapeutically to explore and tackle different behaviors, patterns, or emotional triggers and foster positive change needed for growth and healing.

“My path to becoming a therapist began with a desire to help those who felt like they didn’t know how to help themselves and who seek to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and how they relate to the world around them,” Alysia says. “From personal experience, I recognize the value in having a support system, someone to navigate life’s uncertainties with, and someone to be an advocate for you. Each experience as a Social Worker and utilizing treatment modalities like Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy has helped strengthen my skills in being the support system I always strive to be for others.

I believe that everyone is capable of change and deserving of a happy and healthy life. Everyone goes through times when they need support- some problems are too difficult to solve alone. I am here to help.”
